Kellogg Elementary Needs Community Help to Win $10,000

By Kellogg Elementary

Kellogg Elementary is in the running to win $10,000 from a Scholar Dollars grant, and they are asking for the community’s help to win.

ScholarShare 529, the official college savings plan of California, recognizes the crucial role that schools play in preparing California’s students for college success. In order to help schools provide the best experience for students, they aim to help schools secure the necessary funding for new science lab equipment, band uniforms, library resources, computers, tutoring and more. Schools can build and maintain innovative school programs, foster a college-going culture on campus and enhance extracurricular activities.

Kellogg Elementary, which is a community of transitional kindergarten through sixth-grade students in Goleta, seeks to earn money to support ongoing sustainability, science and technology, and art efforts on campus.  Currently, Kellogg has its first year of an Ocean Guardians program which is working to inform students and staff of ways to increase awareness of the 5 Rs (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle) across its site. One of their initiatives this year is to create reusable party kits for class celebrations. Rather than throwing away cups, plastic flatware, plates and napkins, each class would have a “kit” to use that would help reduce waste.

Additionally, Kellogg School plans to use any earned funds to support coding, engineering, and art activities across its site, specifically to introduce coding to students, replenish supplies for 3-D printing projects, and purchase art program materials that cannot be provided on its limited art budget.

Kellogg needs the community’s support to help students benefit from having access to these enriching learning experiences.

Voting is open on the www.myscholardollars.com webpage between March 11-22, 2019.   Anyone older than 18 years of age can submit a vote for Kellogg School once a day per email address.

The Kellogg community thanks you for your support!
