Update by the Santa Maria Police Department

The victim in the shooting death that occurred in Santa Maria on Saturday, December 9, 2023, has been identified as 15-year-old Santa Maria resident Jesus Cabrera Valverde.
This incident occurred outside about 2:26 PM near the intersection of Western and Agnes. This investigation remains active and ongoing.
Detectives are encouraging anyone that may have been in the area as well as anybody with any potential information related to this investigation to contact the Santa Maria Police Department immediately.

On December 9, 2023, at 2:26 PM, a homicide occured in the City of Santa Maria in the 1300 block of N. Western.
A male juvenile was shot and killed. The investigation is still on going. This is the 4th homicide this year.
