We have been observing with a great deal of interest, three young hawks as they have matured over the past several weeks in an established nest at the bottom of our hill in a Eucalyptus tree. One of the youngsters dropped by [Tuesday] morning to visit. It took a while to realize that he was showing off a morning kill.

Thank you for sharing the delightful photo and video. He could have figured his parents were around and wanted them to see how well he learned their lessons. I really like the "potluck" comment, very creative.

Not only do we not feed wildlife, we absolutely forbid our gardeners to use rodent poison anywhere on the property out of concern that it could upstream to one of these magnificent creatures. We believe that the “victim” is a vole or mole.

And, he brought his own meal. Or, maybe he thought you were having a potluck?

Go to Costco, get a package of chicken wings, and put one, each morning, on the railing where this youngster was sitting. Before long, you'll have the whole family knocking on your door. GREAT video, thanks!
