Juvenile Charged with Murder in Santa Maria

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that felony charges have been filed against 17 year old Augustin F., in connection with the November 2, 2018 shooting death of Salomon Morales Robles in Santa Maria, California. The felony complaint charges First Degree Murder, in violation of Penal Code section 187, and a special circumstance allegation that the murder was carried out to further the activities of a criminal street gang.

Augustin F. was also charged with two counts of Attempted Murder, in connection with the November 3, 2018 shootings of two other individuals, also in Santa Maria.  Additional special allegations include personal use and intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury, personally inflicting great bodily injury, and that the offenses were committed in association with and to benefit a criminal street gang.

Because Augustin F. is 17 years old, this case must be filed in the Juvenile Court.  Arraignment is expected to occur on Wednesday, November 7, 2018.  Pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code § 676(g), information regarding the arraignment may be obtained from the juvenile court. You don’t even know the kid’s last name, so even your standard, racist “if it’s Latino-sounding, then it’s an illegal” test doesn’t work here. You are now relying solely on what? His first name?
