July 4th at the Santa Barbara Waterfront

From Shoreline Park and City beaches, to Santa Barbara Harbor and Stearns Wharf, the waterfront is once again the place to be on July 4th for a day and night of Independence Day festivities! Make sure to join the fun at all-American celebrations on West Beach and Stearns Wharf. Working with partner organizations, the City is excited to present local musicians for beach tunes and patriotic music at West Beach, as well as food vendors along Cabrillo Boulevard from State to Castillo streets from noon to 9 p.m. Enjoy Stearns Wharf music earlier this year with an 11 a.m. start time.

The event culminates with a bang during a 20-minute fireworks display, care of Garden State Fireworks and funded by the Waterfront Department. Fireworks will launch from West Beach starting at approximately 9 p.m. and be simulcast on local radio station KjEE 92.9 FM and streamed live on KEYT.com. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early for the fireworks display, open for free public viewing, or tune to KjEE to enjoy the musically choreographed production throughout the city.

Tips to Remember:

Fireworks are prohibited in the City of Santa Barbara. Fireworks of any kind, including “Safe and Sane Fireworks,” are prohibited in the city, and visitors should not bring any form of fireworks to the beach with them. If they have fireworks and do not want to receive a citation (UFC 7802.2), they can drop them off at Fire Station One, 121 West Carrillo Street, for disposal.

Keep animals safe and happy. As fun as the fireworks and festivities are for humans, our animal friends can get stressed and frightened by loud noises and excitement. Please make a plan to keep your animals safe and happy on the Fourth of July. Take steps such as having them get plenty of exercise during the day, close windows and window coverings, and provide a safe space for them to retreat to in the evening. Also, no pets are allowed on City beaches (Santa Barbara Municipal Code Section 6.08.070). Keep them safe and happy at home.

No camping along the waterfront. The Santa Barbara Municipal Code (Section 15.16.085) prohibits camping on City beaches and the parks along the waterfront.

Transportation:
The public is strongly encouraged to use Santa Barbara MTD, or Amtrak Surfliner, or walk, or bike to the Waterfront. Go to www.SantaBarbaraCA.gov/SBFourth for MTD bus and shuttle schedules, plus additional biking and parking information. With the Castillo Street Underpass closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic due to a CalTrans project, it’s a good idea to plan an alternative route ahead of time and make sure to carpool or take public transportation. Also, in order to accommodate high volumes of pedestrian traffic, Cabrillo Boulevard will be closed to vehicle traffic at 6 p.m.
