Join Edhat’s 20th Anniversary Party!

We’re hosting our 20th Anniversary Celebration Party on Wednesday, April 19, from 4:30-6:30 pm at Carr Winery (414 N. Salsipuedes St., Santa Barbara) and we want you to join!

This is a free community event that will include dessert, raffle with prizes, and live music. Delicious wine from Carr Winery will be available for purchase. All are welcome to come and celebrate.

Musician Conner Cherland, recently signed by Santa Barbara Records, will be crooning sweet tunes. Birthday cupcakes, cookies, and other sweet treats by La Bella Rosa Bakery will be available for all to enjoy. A raffle will be held for a chance to win a variety of prizes and gift baskets from local businesses. You must be present to win; cash, Venmo, and credit cards are accepted.

Local non-profit Santa Barbara Humane will be present with ambassador dogs, available for pets and cuddles, and will provide more information on all their services for the furry four-legged community. A percentage of the raffle ticket sales will be donated to Santa Barbara Humane.

We have also unveiled our newest edhat t-shirt and merch honoring our 20th anniversary featuring designs by local artist and activist Jordan Killebrew. The custom designs are featured on tshirts, mugs, tote bags, and stickers. Learn more here!

Attendees will have the opportunity to gather with members of the Santa Barbara community, fellow edhat readers and commenters, local business owners and community leaders, adoptable pups, and more. The winners of the month-long competitive “March Edness” photo hunt challenge will also be announced and congratulated during the event.

Edhat was founded in November 2003 by the late Peter Sklar as an online gathering for people to connect with neighbors and their community. It is one of the country’s first ever citizen journalism websites where readers submit news and content. Edhat has since bridged the gap between journalism and citizen reporting to include breaking news, community events, games, and contests.

For our 20th anniversary we want to celebrate our mission of being an online community block party with those that have helped us stay true to our roots. Come and raise a glass of wine and cupcake to celebrate our 20th birthday as we thank our readers for the continuous love, support, and contributions that keep us serving up free content and connection for the community year after year.

  1. Congratulations Ed!! Thanks for two decades of uniquely Santa Barbarian presence in this homey corner of the World Wide Web you’ve created and nurtured. We’re also savoring the fun party you put together where we enjoyed a delicious brownie and cupcake, sampled fine wines, met new neighbors, snuggled a sweet puppy, and giggled with the 2y.o. toddler twins wearing Ed’s “Staff” t-shirts. 😀
