Introducing Summer Nights at La Cumbre Jr. High School

COVID-19 disrupted not only classroom education but also the relationship of support and community offered by teachers, counselors, staff of the Santa Barbara Unified School District, and other youth and family service agencies. Made possible through a partnership between the City of Santa Barbara’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Santa Barbara Unified School District, the pair are happy to announce the launch of a new pilot program, Summer Nights at La Cumbre Jr. High School, starting Wednesday June 8, 2022.

As leaders in our community, we are well positioned to provide programs, services, tools, and guidance to prevent violence among youth and create healthy changes in families by helping them access critical resources.

The Summer Nights Program officially kicks off on Wednesday, June 8 at 4:00 p.m. with carnival activities and bouncers, a free meal from the Santa Barbara Unified School District Food Services sponsored by the No Kid Hungry initiative, Zumba, and a variety of games and sporting activities. There will also be a raffle for a brand new X-Box! More information can be found on our website: https://www.santabarbaraca.gov/gov/depts/parksrec/recreation/teens/sbsummernights.asp.

Following the kick-off, the Summer Nights program will continue offering a wide range of enrichment, artistic, sporting, and leadership activities with frequent participation from family service agencies on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays through July 15 from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. on the La Cumbre Jr. High Campus.
