Innovative Farmworker Housing by PSHH Set to Open Soon

Source: PSHH

The Peoples’ Self-Help Housing’s (PSHH) team has been working diligently over the past year to build a beautiful, new property in Guadalupe. Guadalupe Court will provide much-needed affordable, supportive housing for those working in agriculture throughout the Central Coast. With construction coming to an end in the next month, PSHH is excitedly preparing to welcome these farmworker households into their new home.

“We are so proud to bring more quality, affordable housing to the city of Guadalupe,” said John Fowler, President & CEO of PSHH. “Guadalupe Court is one-of-a-kind and will be the perfect place for farmworker families to call home.”

Guadalupe Court is comprised of 38 brand new rental units (1, 2, and 3-bedroom). Amenities include a spacious outdoor courtyard, onsite laundry facilities, a barbecue area, playground, and community center. This property is innovative as it will be the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum building in the city and will provide wrap-around services for its residents with an after-school education program and compassionate, onsite, licensed social workers.

Units are still available for Guadalupe Court and applications can be picked up from Riverview Townhomes, located at 230 Calle Cesar E. Chavez, Guadalupe, CA. You can also request an application by email at gc@pshhc.org, online at pshhc.org/new-housing, or over the phone at (805) 249-2040. Questions regarding the application process and eligibility can be sent to gc@pshhc.org or (805) 249-2040.

If you know someone who may benefit from living at Guadalupe Court, refer them and you will receive an $800 gift-card benefit! Referrals can be submitted to gc@pshhc.org or (805) 249-2040. The eligible applicant must move in by September 1, 2020 in order to receive the benefit.

  1. I am pretty happy with this sort of thing but I do not understand or support the idea (reported elsewhere) that relatives of farm workers will be eligible for this housing. That is a recipe for a bad future. If this information is incorrect please let us know.
