A paraglider crashed near Toro Canyon and became injured prompting an emergency rescue on Monday afternoon.
Emergency personnel received a distress call at 1:17 p.m. and discovered a 51-year-old female paraglider crashed in steep and remote terrain east of Toro Canyon.
Santa Barbara County Fire, County Air Support Helicopter 308, Santa Barbara City Fire, Santa Barbara County Sheriff, Search & Rescue, and AMR ambulance dispatched to the scene.
County firefighters and Copter 308 were able to locate the paraglider and used a hoist rescue to lift her into the helicopter.
The paraglider was treated by two firefighter-paramedics and transported by helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with moderate injuries.
The identity of the paraglider and further information regarding the crash have not been released.
