Injured Paraglider Helicoptered Off Gibraltar Road

An injured paraglider off Gibraltar Road was helicoptered to a local hospital late Wednesday morning.

At 11:29 a.m., Santa Barbara County firefighter/paramedics, City Fire, AMR ambulance, and Search & Rescue responded to a medical emergency for a paraglider that crash landed.

Crews discovered the 42-year-old male approximately 300 feet off Gibraltar Road with injuries to his leg and chest.

Crews hoisted the male aboard Santa Barbara County Air Support Helicopter 308 where he was flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.

The injuries do not appear to be life threatening, according to the County Fire Department.
