I’d just like to point out the public service that Edhat and Noozhawk performs by publishing these short and maybe mundane stories. I hope people read them and think: ‘maybe I should bring a little extra food & water on this hike, maybe an extra layer of clothes, maybe a friend, maybe leave the dog at home, maybe a first aid kit or a towel at least’.
Our front country trails have some challenging situations and people need to be aware that it’s not always just a walk in the park.
Good stuff Kirk, couldn’t agree more. The trails are not parks or urban sidewalks, and phones aren’t our automatic saviors. I do think there are plenty of folks around here who can sprain an ankle and be able to get themselves out without a helicopter crew and a bunch of internet attention. They’re usually easy to spot on the trails, as are the ones who can’t deal.
Ouch! I hope it’s not too bad. That’s a tricky spot up there. Glad to see so many young people out there though. My kids have been up there with buddies a lot this summer. Get outdoors and have fun, but be smart and safe!
sHE sHoULD hAve WALKED oUT oN Her HANds!
Muh tax dollars getting wasted!!!!
“cell phones are never your friends” even when your leg is shattered in a fall…..
Not to worried about a few tax dollars being spent on rescue. The amount of ax dollars waisted on a train to nowhere are very concerning.
SAIL – what’s a “train to nowhere?”
