Firefighters contained a structure fire in the 7000 block of Evergreen Drive in Goleta on Friday morning, Feb. 27, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
A family cat was revived after suffering from smoke inhalation, but there were no other injuries, the fire department stated.
Crews were dispatched at 9:47 a.m. to a two-story single-family home. The fire likely started in the garage and was knocked down at 10:03 a.m., officials said.
Smoke infiltrated both floors of the residence and caused damage throughout the home.
Firefighter/paramedics found a cat suffering from smoke inhalation during a search of the home. They administered oxygen on scene, and the cat recovered and was reunited with its family.
No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The department initially asked residents to avoid the area to support firefighting operations. Further details were not immediately available.
