Santa Barbara hosted its I Madonnari festival at the Old Mission for the 38th time as the first street painting festival of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. There are now many such events throughout the world.
As unusual, the “May Gray” provided cool weather and ideal lighting for photographers.
The photos here were made early the day after so they belie the throngs of many artists and their admirers who had a terrific time during the three day event.
