How to Fix Hazardous Sidewalks?

By an edhat reader

I tripped over badly broken-up concrete and asphalt at Presidio and De La Guera just across from City hall. This hazard needs to be fixed. What’s the best way to fix these hazardous sidewalks?

  1. To get a sidewalk fixed, you have to find the “guy” in Public Works that takes care of those things. You have to use the word “admission’ and desire to make a contribution to a certain foundation that will secure the request. There will be no test to take on your part.

  2. The Google Maps street view is a year and a half old and shows surface breaks but no hazards. Are you sure the cracks are as hazardous as you claim and that you didn’t just trip over a lip in the curb? Were you watching where you were going or were you distracted with your mobile device? With so many peds walking around with the eyes glued to their devices I’m surprised more serious accidents aren’t taking place on a more regular basis.
