Santa Barbara County firefighters rescued a horse that had fallen into a water trough on Sunday morning.

At 6:50 a.m., firefighters responded to a property on Vieja Drive in the unincorporated area of Goleta. Crews discovered a full-grown horse had fallen into a water trough and was unable to get out with help from the Animal Control Equine Team.

Crews were able to move the trough and get the horse out and a veterinarian arrived on scene to evaluate the horse.

The condition of the horse is unknown at this time.

Wonder how long he was on his own like that before anyone noticed. Overnight? Poor guy. Hope he recovers well with no harm done.

If it was 'Mr. Ed' he could've yelled for help. Hope he's galloping around the paddock now. Good job, rescuers!

This guy is 39 years old, probably the oldest horse in Santa Barbara. He seems to be up and OK.
