Good I hope he/she does. Those employees at that CVS are some of the nicest people, most helpful employees I’ve ever met and they do not deserve that.

New York (AFP) – New York has marked its first weekend without a shooting in 25 years, police said Monday.
“We went Friday, Saturday, Sunday without any shootings and homicides,” New York Police Department chief James O’Neill told reporters.
“That’s the first time in decades, and that’s something not just the NYPD, but all New Yorkers can be proud of.”
Big difference between “vagrant/bum” and “homeless”. Sometimes hard to tell the difference, but until we can segregate them into substance abusers, mentally incompetent, economically debilitated or “King of the Road” groups, it isn’t possible to deal with them adequately.
Has City Council followed up on the generous offers of Richard Berti and other donors offering $100,000 each to build additional prefab homeless bed shelters on vacant County land near mental health, social services and jail. Mr Berti’s generous public proposal to the City would make a difference. The homeless working poor and those seeking work would remain in downtown area shelters. The mentally ill and those incapable of traditional work would be close to supervision and services. As for the gypsies they are free to roam, and according to 9th Circuit sleep on any public sidewalk or property if a shelter bed is NOT available. Is 2-1-1 taking a nightly bed availability count for Police and public?
Yes, someone needs to “address” the homeless issue. Why it should be the police implies a judgment that “homelessness” is a criminal law issue. The cities and county and state need to actually provide some housing and care for this population outside of new jails and more study groups. Where has the money that was raised by higher taxes on the wealthy gone????
Build more housing. More homeless come. Build more housing. More homeless arrive in S.B. etc.

What an inane comment–“homeless” means no housing. How does more housing mean more people without housing?
This makes no sense – unless you mean that more housing creates more homelessness among the people already living here, because no one can afford it. The new construction is being rented for astronomical rates, which drives up overall rents throughout the city because landlords keep wanting “market value.” Just look at the Marc on Upper State. They are now asking $3200 for a one bedroom. It’s criminal.
