Why is there still a large homeless encampment on side of Highway 101 near Fairview? Is no one doing anything about it? They have taken over bushes, added tarps, have clothes hanging up, and a giant fort. The last two mornings on the way to work I saw someone openly going to the bathroom. Will Goleta or Santa Barbara do anything about it?

Nope. Santa Barbara and Goleta do nothing about the persistent issues that transients create. Case in point: the numerous incidents of transients harassing people downtown, including a recent run in with Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf employees. I used to work on State St. and it was not uncommon to see homeless people using the sidewalks as toilets. The camps along the sides of the highways are small potatoes, apparently. It's very frustrating.
