A neighbor witnessed a brazen hit and run on De La Vina and Pueblo Streets around 7:25 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 16).
They described seeing a Range Rover in matte black hit a young man riding his bicycle. The passenger of the vehicle got out while the driver left the scene. The passenger said the driver needed to drop someone off but he’d be right back.
The passenger is described as a white male, age 50s-60s, about 6’2″ wearing a Santa Barbara County Fire Department hat.
The witness began asking the passenger to write down information for the bicyclist. When he was asked whether the driver was drinking, he adamantly said no and started acting nervous. He said he needed to take a call and started to walk away while on the phone, then took off in a full sprint and disappeared.
The witness is asking if anyone has information on the incident, the driver, or the passenger to contact the police department where a report was filed. Additionally, if anyone lives in the area and has access to camera footage, that would be helpful.
These two getting caught will be satisfying. Plenty of private cameras as well as a few city ones in the nearby area.
I agree, it will be satisfying.
