I drive by the large home and gardens on the corner of Mission and Modoc pretty frequently. The house is stunning and the lot is beautiful, it makes me smile every time I see it. I often wonder about the history of the home. Do any edhat readers know? It looks to be pretty original.

When I first moved to Santa Barbara 31 years ago it was a scary abandoned house.
As I recall some homeless people were squatting there (yes the homeless issue goes way back it’s nothing new). Everytime I would drive by there I would think what a shame it was that it had fallen into such disrepair. I was thrilled when it was renovated, it was quite an undertaking.
