A sprawling historic garden estate in Montecito has hit the market for $18.5 million, bringing a historic Spanish Colonial-style property onto the market.

Located at 660/670 Buena Vista Drive in the prestigious Upper Village area, the property spans 3.41 acres across two legal parcels, according to a listing on Redfin.

The estate’s asking price is equivalent to $3,045 per square foot.

Originally built in 1933, the two-level main residence encompasses around 6,000 square feet, featuring four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms.

The listing categorizes the residence as an estate-style single-family residence.

The residence underwent extensive renovations in 1999 by Ketzel & Goodman, intended to preserve the 1930s architectural style while incorporating contemporary touches.

Interior features include hardwood and tile flooring, several fireplaces, a laundry room, a living room, a family room, and a dining room.

The kitchen includes a formal breakfast bar.

Outside, the property is surrounded by landscaped gardens designed by landscape designer Sydney Baumgartner, which include mature orchards, vast lawns, a putting green, courtyards, and covered loggias.

The property also has three separate entry gates, which lend more privacy.

In addition to the main residence, the property also offers two guest cottages that date back to the 1920s and 1930s.

The property includes an attached six-car garage.

Prior to its recent listing, the estate sold for $2.5 million in 1997, according to the listing.

The property’s existing owner details were not disclosed.

The Upper Village area’s housing market is mostly balanced, with a slight tilt towards a buyer’s market, according to Redfin’s estimates.

This indicates that the supply and demand of homes are relatively equal and are stable despite the high home prices.

The median listing price of homes in this neighborhood is around $16.72 million, according to Realtor. The median price per square foot of listed homes is about $2,640.

Montecito’s Housing Market

Montecito is considered a premier luxury housing market, primarily influenced by a high concentration of homes belonging to celebrities, high-net-worth individuals, and entrepreneurs, including Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, and Prince Harry.

The housing market in this coastal enclave mostly consists of multi-million-dollar, luxury estates with significant acreage, lush gardens that offer privacy, and homes with ocean and mountain views.

Offering an ultra-exclusive coastal lifestyle, Montecito sits close to Santa Barbara and guarantees its residents a stunning Mediterranean climate and ocean views.

In 2025, Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine and his model wife Behati Prinsloo sold their luxurious nine-bedroom, 14-bathroom estate for a $60 million. Spanning over 13,000 square feet, the two-story turn-key house was originally built in 2009 for actor Rob Lowe.

Earlier this year, the historic “Moody Sisters Cottage” that dates back to 1932 was listed for sale for $3.95 million. Located on Coast Village in Montecito’s Lower Village, the property features a storybook-style architecture and blends historic character with commercial use.
