The 140-year-old boutique hotel underwent renovations and will reopen for a limited series of overnight stays and curated dinners in collaboration with Santa Barbara wineries.

The four events will be held over four consecutive weekends, from April 10 to May 1, 2026.

The weekends have been designed as immersive wine getaway experiences, combining tastings, dining, and two-night stays at the landmark hotel.

Each weekend will feature a different winery, with a winemaker cocktail hour, multi-course meals, vineyard tasting experiences, and overnight stays.

Participating wineries include Lo-Fi Wines, McKinney Family Vineyards, Koehler Winery, and the Demetria Estate.

Guests staying at the hotel during the events will have access to the newly renovated rooms and several gathering spaces, including the historic Old West-style saloon, gardens, and outdoor areas.

Earlier this month, the hotel shared glimpses of the renovated spaces in an Instagram post, ahead of the upcoming events.

In addition to the weekend events, 1880 Union Hotel operates as a venue for weddings, private celebrations, and other gatherings. Event spaces include a ballroom, rose garden, gazebo, and the saloon, which is used for late-night celebrations and evening receptions.

A Historic Landmark in Los Alamos

Located at 362 Bell Street in Los Alamos, the 1880 Union Hotel has been one of the most recognizable buildings in the region, according to its website.

Originally built in 1880 as a stagecoach stop, general store, and lodging house, the hotel served as a place for visitors and locals to rest and eat together.

After the arrival of the Pacific Coast Railway in 1882, the building later served as a telegraph station and Wells Fargo office.

The building’s original wooden structure was destroyed in a fire in 1893, and a new stucco structure was built in 1915, continuing its function as a hotel and saloon.

The hotel was restored in 1972 by a craftsman, who added aged wood to replicate the original 1880 facade.

In 2016, the hotel was modernized to upgrade the plumbing, electrical, and air conditioning systems, while maintaining the hotel’s character.

A popular backdrop in music videos, celebrity events, and films, the hotel is a California Registered Historic Landmark.
