Emergency personnel responded to a report of an injured hiker on Hot Springs Trail in Montecito late Saturday morning.
At 11:07 a.m., Montecito firefighters and Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue (SBCSAR) responded to the emergency call.
The female hiker reportedly tripped 0.25 miles up the trail and sustained a substantial head injury, which resulted in a loss of consciousness.
Montecito Fire paramedics provided initial medical treatment, after which SBCSAR assisted in carrying the patient down the trail in a rescue litter.
A ground AMR ambulance was waiting at the trailhead and transported the hiker to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.
