If the man was having a diabetic breakdown as suggested, he definitely deserves our compassion. Medical emergencies are a top priority.

Thank goodness for the reporting parties and Search & Rescue. It surely appears it was another likely tragedy avoided. We have more bad news coming from this storm and remaining rainy season - let's try to do better.

This was an armed diabetic in distress... 2 people hiking reported him as a medical emergency and then subsequently reported he was armed and in distress. The reporting parties disarmed him, and it was reported that his name was J*** maybe the son of one of the deceased listed today who is as well listed as missing. Have some compassion about what the non stop tragedy has done to the psche of our community.

he allowed the reporting parties to disarm him , was observed curled in a fetal position, and was obviously disoriented. I would venture he was suicidal, not homicidal. That doe in my opinion deserve compassion.

Then the headline should be changed to armed suspect detained on tunnel trail. Compassion for carrying weapons? What if he ended up hurting someone else instead of himself. That’s ok because he’s had a tramatic experience? Yikes.

I would have marched up that hill myself and slapped whoever it was across the face and left their dumbass's there on the hill. Exercise elsewhere for a bit. Give it a rest! ALL ABOUT YOU!
