Highway 246 Traffic Collision Injures Two People

A severe car accident occurred Monday morning on Highway 246 in Buellton involving a Tesla and a Suburban SUV, resulting in major injuries to an elderly male.

The incident was reported at 9:24 a.m., prompting immediate responses from Santa Barbara County Fire Department (SBC Fire), American Medical Response (AMR), and California Highway Patrol (CHP).

According to the authorities, the Tesla was struck on the driver’s side by the Suburban SUV. Firefighters had to extricate the driver, an elderly male, from the Tesla due to his major injuries. He was subsequently transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by ground ambulance for further treatment.

The occupants of the Suburban SUV managed to exit the vehicle on their own. The adult female sustained minor injuries and was taken to Santa Ynez Cottage Hospital via ground ambulance. The second occupant, a young male, did not sustain visible injuries and declined ambulance transport.

Authorities are actively investigating the cause of this collision. Updates will follow as more details are released.
