The California Highway Patrol will be monitoring the storm anticipated to arrive the morning of Tuesday, March 13, 2018, from 7AM to 1 PM very closely. The CHP will determine if public safety is at risk and if the US 101 needs to be closed.

The freeway will remain open until it is determined there is a risk to public safety. If there is a risk to public safety, US 101 will be shut down immediately without notice. If the US 101 needs to be closed at anytime, the CHP will continue to monitor the storm and debris flow to ensure the freeway opens back up as quickly as possible.

The storm is anticipated to arrive during the morning commute hours. The CHP is requesting that everyone stay away from the area in case the storm causes debris flow requiring US 101 to be closed. The CHP is concerned with public safety and does not want anyone to get caught in a debris flow or to be stranded on the freeway for any amount of time.

We ask for the public to remain alert and to slow down while they are driving in the rain.
