Timeframe:  March 10 - 16, 2019

Closures

  • Highway 101 
    • Northbound Highway 101 will be closed Sunday - Tuesday nights between Linden and Bailard Avenues to remove temporary supports (falsework) at Casitas Pass Road. See map for detours below. 
      • Sunday night: midnight to 5:00 am 
      • Monday and Tuesday nights: 10:00 pm to 5:00 am
    • Southbound Highway 101 will be closed on Wednesday night to remove the remainder of the temporary supports as needed.
      • Wednesday night: 10:00 pm to 5:00 am
  • Southbound Highway 101 off-ramp at Casitas Pass Road
    • Monday - Friday 
      • The Highway 101 southbound off-ramp at Casitas Pass Road will be closed from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm for drainage work. Please use off-ramps at either Linden or Bailard Avenues as alternate routes.
    • This ramp will be closed up to 1 month beginning as early as March 18th to enable crews to make ramp improvements and connect it to the new Casitas Pass Overcrossing.

Casitas Pass Road

  • Overcrossing
    • Crews will finish removing the temporary supports and wood forms and then work on the back walls. Work will also begin on the barrier rail.
  • Southbound Highway 101 on-ramp at Casitas Pass Road
    • Crews will continue grading and prepare the area for Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement near the end of the new ramp.

Linden Avenue Overcrossing

  • Work will continue on wood forms and steel installation for the internal supports (stems) and underside (soffit) of the bridge.

Highway 101

  • Sound Walls
    • Northbound Highway 101 between Linden Avenue and Franklin Creek (behind Nipomo Drive)
      • Crews will continue excavating for the wall footings.
    • Southbound Highway 101 between Linden Avenue and Casitas Pass Road
      • Crews will install wood forms and rebar and then pour concrete for the wall footings.
  • Carpinteria Creek
    • Work continues on the southbound Highway 101 bridge barrier rail over Carpinteria Creek.
  • New drainage improvements are being installed along Via Real, Casitas Pass Road, near the new northbound on-ramp at Casitas Pass Road, and the southbound off-ramp at Casitas Pass Road.
  • Electrical work is progressing around the project to install new lighting on Via Real.
  • Retaining wall work is occurring along southbound Highway 101 south of Casitas Pass Road.

Via Real

  • A new, temporary crosswalk has been installed across Casitas Pass Road connecting Via Real near Hales Lane to the new section of Via Real that crosses Carpinteria Creek. Once construction is complete in this area, a permanent crosswalk will be installed.
  • Via Real is closed from Casitas Pass Road to the old northbound Highway 101 on-ramp. Local residents have one-way access to Hales Lane on Via Real (entering from Casitas Pass Road and exiting on Vallecito Road). 
    • Pedestrians can use the sidewalk on Via Real, but please refrain from entering the construction area.
  • Crews will continue work on the retaining wall along Via Real between Casitas Pass Road and Hales Lane.

Upcoming Work:  March

  • The Highway 101 southbound off-ramp at Casitas Pass Road will close continuously for up to 1 month as early as March 18th. Please note this is in addition to the daytime closures listed above. Detour maps can be viewed at SBROADS.com.
