Makenna Koffee Company is expanding its Southern California footprint, with new café locations planned to open in Spring 2026 in Isla Vista in Santa Barbara County and Newbury Park in Ventura County.

The Isla Vista location will be situated near the University of California, Santa Barbara campus at 6521 Pardall Road, placing it in the heart of Isla Vista’s student-centered commercial corridor. The area is known for high foot traffic from students and local residents.

Makenna Koffee currently operates locations in Simi Valley and Valencia.

Founded in 2019 in Simi Valley, Makenna Koffee has grown around a coastal-inspired café concept. In addition to coffee and specialty drinks, the brand also sells branded merchandise, including apparel.

The company has also highlighted community-focused efforts, including offering free meals during a past government shutdown, according to a November Instagram post.

The effort was presented by the company as a way to support the community during a period of economic uncertainty.

Another coffee brand has also expanded locally, with Dart Coffee Co. opening its fourth location in Summerland in December, as previously reported by Edhat.

The Summerland café operates from the outdoor food truck area at Godmothers Bookstore and began serving customers in early December. The location offers specialty coffee along with a selection of baked goods and prepared food items. The Summerland opening marked the company’s second new location of 2025, following the launch of its Carpinteria café earlier in the year.

Additionally, a new breakfast and lunch establishment, Noe’s Cafe, opened in downtown Santa Barbara in December. Located at 129 E. Anapamu Street across from the Sunken Garden, Noe’s Cafe is a family-owned spot that offers fresh coffee and a menu based on longtime family recipes.
