Happy Free Slurpee Day

Happy 7-Eleven Day!

Today is July 11th (7/11), the one day a year where the national convenience store chain gives away their signature frozen beverage, Slurpees.

Customers can cash in on their complimentary small-size drink, and inevitable sugar-induced brain freeze, by stopping in to a participating 7-Eleven store from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. while supplies last. Click here to find a location near you and visit 7-Eleven’s website for more discounts and rewards.

7-Eleven estimates they will hand out approximately 9 million Slurpees by the end of the day.

Below are the favorite flavors of the Dedicated Staff of edhat.com:

  • cherry coke
  • blue and red mixed together, what are the flavors? who knows… blueberry and cherry?
  • layer every single one, especially pina colada
  • lemonade!
  • I forego the Slurpee and risk it with a donut and coffee

What’s your favorite flavor or mixture?

  1. “Body-shaming.” Euphemism for “don’t worry, it’s okay to be obese.” No, it’s not okay. Shame on the parents. And you’re dead wrong about fat kids in the 70s. There is no comparison between what we saw then and what we’re seeing now. It nearly boggles the mind: kids age 12 and 13, 4′ 9″ to 5’2″ and weighing in at over 150lbs. It’s disgusting and wrong. It is nothing unusual now to see teenagers who are 50, 60, 80 lbs overweight. Think of the cost to healthcare in the future. Stay away from sugar and fried foods and keep your kids on track with plenty of good exercise.

  2. Exactly – these people who spend 1/2 their day focusing and analyzing every molecule that enters their body live just as long as the rest of us, sometimes less! I know a few “health nuts” that have dropped dead of heart attacks at early ages, and not many more who were “unhealthy.” Enjoy a little treat now and then! A little sugar won’t kill you!

  3. When I was a kid in SB we frequented Foster’s Freeze, Orange Julius, Jack ‘n Jill’s. Lots of malts and milk shakes. Chocolate dipped cones, whipped orange drinks. Oh, and A & W root beer floats. But—-we were all skinny, wiry little cusses. The odd man out was the fat kid. We walked everywhere, we body surfed. We rode our metal wheel skateboards and funky bikes. It is appalling to see the grossly flabby fat kids that now exist. Parents: get your kids outside and away from video games.

  4. “grossly flabby fat kids?” – wow, way to body shame children. Yeah yeah, we all know your generation was the “best,” but overweight kids are nothing to make fun of. Keep your self-righteousness in check. There were plenty of fat kids in the 70s.
