Mayor Lizalde announced the CDBG award to rehabilitate LeRoy Park and the community facility at the July 10, 2018 City Council meeting. The CDBG is a federally funded program through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development that helps smaller cities and counties create jobs, homes, services and businesses. Youth services have been provided at the LeRoy Park facility by the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Maria, Incl. in partnership with the City of Guadalupe for over twenty years.

The five acre park and the facility are in dire need of repairs and renovation prompting the Mayor to say “This project will provide our entire community especially our youth and seniors with a safe and healthy five acre recreational area—the City is moving forward!”
