  1. Oscar Gonzales and Cathy Murillo – this is your district, this is your neighborhood. Tell us what you are doing about this. Sounds like the Westside is victimizing the Eastside. Share your collected wisdom with us. Why aren’t you out walking the streets getting this to cool down, instead of prancing around cutting ribbons.

  2. I agree with Factotum. Years ago the female mayor of Chicago moved into the Cabrini Green Projects to help bring sanity back to what had become a zoo. A bit of old fashioned “ward heeling” would go a long way to letting the East and West side community realize that we are actually civilized, aware and know each other as families, neighbors, that we care about their welfare and our own. Here’s a bad idea: now that we are the Weed Capitol of the nation, perhaps the city council could roll up a few hundred doobies and go out and play “Meet the Neighbors” and pass out the reefer. They certainly would get the attention of the drug dealing minority, which is what these gang crimes are revolving around. Perhaps keeping them a little stoned will save a few lives. Remember: I told you this was a bad idea! @B>)~ Cathy and Oscar: forget the last part, just heed the heeling/healing. Peace in Paradise, Please!!!

  3. The sad truth is there is no cooling down. If one gang kills someone from another gang, there will be a return attack or killing. There is no stopping this vicious cycle. No good will ambassador walking the streets is going to change that. It’s like we are all living alongside an alternate universe/dimension. Their world is moved by things our world cannot touch.

  4. Since fighting seems to be their group favorite passtime, how about they start providing their own medics? The County could provide basic training and give them a discount on sutures and that sort of thing and antibiotic ointments and such at cost. For pain killers: Oh well. Isn’t that the name of the game? Prove how macho you are?
