A Facebook friend of mine posted this video on July 14th of a Great White Shark at Santa Clause Lane while paddle boarding. Here's a link to the video:

As far as I know, the sighting has not been reported to any authorities.

Humans are the only thing dangerous to this planet. Who's freaking out other than the people that see sharks where they live? Posting the photos and videos for fun is great I love sharks and love seeing them but reporting to authorities is like calling the police to say you say a pine tree in the forest or going to a prison and saying you saw an inmate. You see how dumb that sounds yet?

Also, don't forget about the whole scientific research thing. Great Whites, in particular, are a very mysterious species with not a lot known about them (compared to other species of shark). Marine biologists are trying to learn more about them and these reports are logged and studied to help them. Please try to relax and stop being so upset about something so benign,

Reporting a great white shark sighting at a local, popular beach, is NOTHING like calling the cops to report a pine tree. Here's the main reason why: pine trees aren't capable (and have a record) of biting humans in half.

Sharks own the ocean not us. I think anyone that thinks they need to report sightings of something in its natural habitat is psychotic. If you don't know that there could be one near the shore or not, juvenile or adult then you don't belong in the water. Stick with a bubble.

Psychotic? Really? Reporting the presence of a creature that can be fatally dangerous to humans is psychotic? Who cares who's "home" it is. It is in a place where many humans go too, so there is a possibility of interaction. To be so vehemently against reporting sightings is well, way more psychotic than actually reporting sightings of a known dangerous animal. Weird....

Rob Lowe and son were just on Extra showing their video of same area. They were Paddle Boarding with the Great Whites too. Everyone has reported many sightings at Santa Claus beach yet there were a ton of kids playing in the water all weekend. So Authorities must deem it safe still.

Apparently the juvenile Great Whites aren't really a threat and it seems they are the ones cruising our beaches lately. These weren't reported for beach closures. But, it doesn't hurt to warn about sharks when sighted, people have been badly injured or killed by the big ones; not likely to happen by someone looking out their home window. This is a groovy video, thanks for posting. What a treat to be so close on a paddle board.

Why do we need to keep reporting shark sightings!!!! That is their home!!! Should I drive by your house and call the cops because I saw you in the window? If you swim in the ocean you know the risk....end of story.

What is your deal? Calm down a bit. People reporting a rarely seen and potentially deadly animal, regardless of whose "home" it's in, is pretty normal. Freaking out that people are reporting sightings is not so much. Ever think that maybe some people might like to know if there is a dangerous animal close to where they are planning to go play? Or what about this "crazy" possibility: some people are fascinated by rarely seen, mysterious and awesome wild animals and want to share their experiences. It's called the internet. People post photos of their cats. Why is posting a photo of a GREAT WHITE SHARK so bizarre and offensive to you?

Well, when there are great whites close to shore, they usually close the beaches. It's good to know where they are, so people can be careful, keep their kids safe, etc.
