Goleta Man Identified in Fatal Oxnard Fall

The Ventura County Medical Examiner identified the Santa Barbara County man who died Sunday after falling from the third story of an apartment complex in Oxnard.

Ryan Mcaleavey-Smith, 23 of Goleta, reportedly fell accidentally over the railing when walking up the third-floor stairs in the 700 block of Forest Park Blvd. around 12:09 a.m.

Oxnard Police originally reported the man to be from Santa Barbara and are investigating the incident as an accident pending an autopsy. 

Witnesses stated Mcaleavey-Smith had been previously drinking with coworkers that evening.

The Oxnard Police Department is investigating an accidental death after a man fell from a third-story Forest Park Bl. railing.

On November 15, 2020 at about 12:09 a.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Forest Park Bl. located in the Riverpark community reference an injured man.

Witnesses said the man, 23, of Santa Barbara fell to his death when he fell over the railing of the third-story apartment.

Police are investigating the death as an accident pending an autopsy. Alcohol may have played a role in the fall.
