Burglars Force Entry at Best Buy Store in Goleta and Steal Dozens of MacBook Computers

On December 23, 2018, at about 4:00 a.m., Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Best Buy store located at 7090 Marketplace Drive in Goleta for a report of a burglary where the suspects had forced entry through a metal emergency exit door. 

The responding deputies met with a store manager, who had just arrived at the store to prepare for opening, when he discovered that a burglary had occurred. The manager told the deputies that after the suspects entered the store, they forced their way into a storage room to steal approximately 60-MacBook computers with a value of about $75,000.

During investigation it was determined that video surveillance captured images of multiple suspects committing the crime.

Sheriff’s Deputies along with Detectives from the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Bureau are actively investigating this crime. Because of the on-going investigation surveillance video or photos are no t being released.

Thieves broke into the Goleta Best Buy store early Sunday and stole over $75,000 worth of MacBook laptops. 

Approximately 60 Apple computers were discovered stolen after a store manager arrived at 4:00 a.m. Sunday and discovered the burglary, reports KCAL.

According to the report security cameras captured images of the suspects, but they have not yet been released.

The edhat staff has reached out to the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office for more information and as of publication have not heard back.
