The Goleta Valley Girls Softball Association 12U Girls won the USA SOFTBALL Western Nationals.

A first for the league. No 12u team has ever made it past 7th place in the national championships.

The team went 8-0 and swept the national championships In Roseville California this last week. Temperatures as high as 105 during games.

In the semifinal game they overcame a 4 run deficit in the bottom of the 7th (and final inning) to defeat previously undefeated San Mateo 9-8. The more remarkable thing was the entire line up batted  in that inning. The 6,7,8&9 hitters all got hits to facing a 2 out scenario with the 8 hitter tying the game and the 9th hitter winning the game on a line drive to center field.

Even more remarkable they did it with just one pitcher. She pitched 8 complete games – 601 pitches, 219 batters faced, 79 hits, 42 runs, 6 walks.
