Took awhile to figure this out ... the bottom edge of the photo is just east of the Tajiguas Landfill. See that skinny rectangular feature at the bottom? That's Leon Canyon where Tajiguas Creek and Tajiguas Ranch are. If you've ever hiked the Baron Ranch trail, Tajiguas Creek is in the canyon just to the east of the trailhead. If you follow the coastline up from the lower-right, the first prominent point is the one at El Capitan State Beach (roughly @middle of the photo). From the top of the coastline, I believe the two protruding features are the Mesa and Coil Oil Point.

Is the Gaviota coast photo actually Hollister Ranch? (Not seeing landmarks I recognize). Second photo is very dramatic - really illustrates a "rain shadow". Beautiful, and thank you.

Very cool. The second photo shows snowy Mount Charleston at the north end of the Spring Mountains range. The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area appears just to the right (east) of the red-colored rocks. There are some really popular rock climbing areas there as well as a few petroglyph/pictograph sites. That mountain pass in the photo is hwy 160 which connects Vegas and Pahrump.
