Online fundraisers have been created to help families affected by a house fire in Santa Barbara.
Two separate households have been displaced when a westside home caught fire on Sunday that spread to a neighboring unit.
Santa Barbara City firefighters responded to the 800 block of Orange Ave around 5:30 p.m. Visible smoke and flames were seen coming from the home as nearby neighbors were evacuated.
The cause of the fire is under investigation although one online fundraising page states an electrical fire in one home spread to the neighboring house.
A fundraiser has been created for the Valadez family as their home and belongings is described as a total loss. The family of six includes four children ranging in ages from 8 to 16.
“We are fundraising to get them the bare essentials and a place for them to stay during this difficult time, as the roof of their home has completely caved in and further burnt their belongings,” the fundraising page states.
Additionally, Paulina Avila and her family of six people and two dogs also lost their home and most of their belongings.
They were not home at the time and thankfully were not injured. Avila states while they are profoundly grateful for being safe, the void left by the lost home is immense and deeply felt.
“In this challenging moment, we find solace in the kindness and generosity of others. We humbly ask for your support to help us begin to rebuild our lives and restore a sense of normalcy. Your contributions, no matter the size, will be a beacon of hope and will aid us greatly in overcoming this hardship,” Avila writes.
