TYPE OF INCIDENT:  Arrest of Out of State Fugitive
PLACE OF OCCURRENCE: 700 block of Foothill Blvd.
SUSPECT: Ronald James Hart, age 40, resident of Elma, Washington

DETAILS:

On November 20, 2024, officers contacted two males illegally parked in a disabled space at the Conserv Fuel on Santa Rosa Street. One of the males, who did not have identification documents, provided multiple names to the officers and was ultimately cited for PC 148.9(a) – misdemeanor providing false identification to a peace officer.

On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, officers contacted the male again on the 700 block of Foothill. During the interaction, the male again gave several false names and was arrested for PC 529(a)(3) – felony falsely impersonating another.

During the arrest, officers were able to positively identify the male as 40-year-old Ronald James Hart of Elma, Washington. Hart was found to be a fugitive, having failed to check-in with Probation in Washington. Hart was transported to San Luis Obispo County Jail and will be extradited to Washington.

Hart was also charged with PC 530.5(c)(1) – misdemeanor identifying information theft with intent to defraud and PC 1551(a) – felony fugitive without an arrest warrant. This charge allows for Hart to be held in custody pending extradition.

  1. Should have had him in custody on first contact. Unfortunately the information(warrants/wants)had not been put into the system yet and he was able to ‘go home’. Not so lucky the 2nd time, not very bright either it seems.
