Free Flu Shots on Wednesday

Source: Santa Barbara Public Health Department

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department in collaboration with the Santa Barbara County Medical Reserve Corps is hosting a free flu shot event on Wednesday, October 23 in the City of Goleta. All community members 2 years of age and older are invited to receive a free flu shot. No appointment needed.

What: Free Flu Shot Event
When: Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Where: Goleta Valley Community Center, 5679 Hollister Ave., Goleta, CA
Who: Everyone 2 years of age and older

Annual flu vaccination is the best way to prevent the flu and flu-related complications that could lead to hospitalization and even death. Being vaccinated will protect the most vulnerable people in our community by preventing the spread of flu. Health experts recommend that everyone 6 months of age and older, including pregnant women, get a flu vaccination.

In addition to providing our community with protection against the flu, this event is an opportunity for the Public Health Department to work with the City of Goleta to exercise the community mass vaccination plan. This flu shot event serves to familiarize residents with the operation of a mass vaccination clinic and improve the county’s ability to respond to public health emergencies.

If you are unable to attend this free flu vaccination event, you can also get a flu shot from your regular health care provider or local pharmacies. For information about seasonal influenza or where to get a flu shot, visit https://countyofsb.org/phd/news/seasonal-flu.sbc.

This event is funded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program.

  1. Do we want the government to micro-manage our lives down to the smallest detail, or do we want to be left alone. Where does the needle register today between those two extremes and which way should it be moving in the future?

  2. Oh boy a vaccine post! Let the ignoramuses start posting about things they know nothing about but have formed a solid opinion about after reading a few articles (memes) on the interwebs that were written by random people and of course, clickbait bots selling essential oils… Isnt the age of information grand?
