Fourth of July on Santa Barbara’s Waterfront

Mark your calendars! [Next week] the City of Santa Barbara hosts its all-day Fourth of July festivities along the waterfront. Come for music, food, fun, and sun [Thursday], July 4th with an all-American celebration at West Beach and on Stearns Wharf. Working with its nonprofit partner, local musicians will bring fun summer sounds and patriotic music to a West Beach stage, and food vendors will stage along Cabrillo Boulevard from State to Castillo streets from noon to 9 p.m. Also at the beach, Stearns Wharf is keeping its music line-up and family-friendly fun from 11 a.m. until the fireworks begin. The Wharf is also a prime spot to view the show!

The day of celebration ends with a bang during a 20-minute fireworks display, care of Garden State Fireworks and funded by the City’s Waterfront Department. Fireworks will launch from West Beach starting at approximately 9 p.m. and be simulcast on local radio station 92.9 FM and live streamed on KEYT.com. The City thanks KjEE and KEYT for their support of this community event. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early for the free fireworks display or tune in to KjEE to enjoy the choreographed production from anywhere in the city.

Transportation:

The public is strongly encouraged to use Santa Barbara MTD, Amtrak Surfliner, walk, or bike to the waterfront. Go to www.SantaBarbaraCA.gov/SBFourth for MTD bus and shuttle schedules, plus additional biking and parking information.

  1. And the rest of us are subjected to dog crap in our parks, sidewalks/park strips, and beaches 365 days a year. Somehow I don’t feel much empathy. Plus…people who complain about fireworks on the 4th of July? Lame.

  2. My daughters dog used to turn to jelly during fireworks. A Veterinarian gave her downers for the dog and that worked. When the dog went deaf in old age no noises bothered him. I’ve read people should put their dog in a room with a radio or TV on and they will not be bothered. Can’t cancel fireworks because a few dogs might get upset, it’s up to the owners to solve the problem for their pet.

  3. You may want to consider these regarding fireworks:
    – irresponsable use of natural resources
    – desecration of the environment by firework waste
    – celebrates and normalizes violence and war as a means to solve problems
    – the time, energy and money could be used for a higher purpose, i.e: community needs
    – represents “tradition” itself being more important than conséquences
    – indirectly puts our gréât country as better than the common global human welfare
