Four New Goleta Neighborhood Playgrounds Breaking Ground

Source: City of Goleta
We are so excited to finally begin breaking ground on four of the City’s neighborhood parks! Children will be able to play on the amazing new equipment before the end of the year. Each of the parks will have their own set of play equipment that came about after receiving community input on what the people who lived nearby felt was most important for their neighborhood playground. New playground equipment will be installed at Andamar, Berkely, and Winchester II parks beginning as early as next week. There is something for adults as well; outdoor fitness equipment will be going in at Winchester I park starting next week. City of Goleta Parks and Recreation Manager said, “This has been a long process, but the excitement is high as we near the day when children will be able to play on new equipment that will challenge and enhance their creativity, physicality and social experiences. We will do our best to minimize the impacts to the neighbors, while working hard to bring the community amazing new playgrounds and outdoor fitness equipment.” Below is information on each park and its construction timeline:
During construction, portions of the park(s), or in some cases the entire park(s), will be closed to public access. Please keep in my mind this schedule is tentative and could be modified based on field and/or weather conditions. Thank you for your patience as we work to bring new playground equipment to Goleta! For more information, visit the project page on our website at www.cityofgoleta.org/projects-programs/parks-open-space/playground-improvements. For questions, please contact JoAnne Plummer, Project Manager, at jplummer@cityofgoleta.org or (805) 562-5505. Stay tuned for a ribbon-cutting announcement. Park renderings below.

Oct 05, 2021 11:16 AMThe City of Goleta seems to be running on all cylinders, and providing its citizens with all mean and manner of improvements. Santa Barbara is in friendly "competition" with Goleta, and upped the stakes by installing t-w-o whole hydration/foot rinsing/coffee, soda, beer, baby formula dumping stations.

Oct 05, 2021 11:20 AMBABY - I agree. Goleta is doing such a better job taking care of its citizens and providing safe family fun and activities for all ages. Girsh park (yeah private, but still relies on the City), Ice in Paradise, skate parks, new parks, beaches, etc. Gotta love the Goodland!

Oct 05, 2021 01:28 AMFor those of us who don't get out much, it would be nice to know exactly where these parks are. How 'bout street references?

Oct 04, 2021 02:27 PMI enjoyed skating in SB's indoor roller rink in the 1970s. We also need to bring back Shady Acres miniature golf.
