Four Injured in Highway 154 Collision

On September 09, 2018, at approximately 2215 hours, a major injury traffic collision occurred on SR-154 westbound east of the Vista Point. A Lexus sedan, driven by a 21 year old female from San Marcos, was traveling westbound on SR-154 east of the Vista Point. The Lexus veered to the right, struck the metal guardrail, and became disabled within the roadway. A Dodge pickup, driven by a 42 year old man from North Hollywood, was traveling eastbound on SR-154 east of the Vista Point. The driver of the Dodge observed the traffic collision but was unable to avoid colliding with the disabled Lexus.

The California Highway Patrol, Santa Barbara County Fire Department, and American Medical Response, responded to the collision scene. The passenger of the Lexus was extricated from the vehicle by Fire Department personnel and transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries. The driver of the Lexus and both occupants within the Dodge were also transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with minor injuries.

The circumstances of the collision are currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.  SR-154 westbound was closed for approximately one hour and traffic alternated using the eastbound lane.
