Several years ago Edhat published my pic of this massive rock that I called “Sponge Bob” inspired by the unusual look of it. So squared off with a well-placed center cave you might call it Art rather than Bob. A local avid hiker asked exactly where it is, and that led me on a quest for the location. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t find it on gMaps or on subsequent flights in the area. I finally found it! In the more overhead view of Sponge Bob the vegetation is flattened so I wondered if a mountain lion lives there. As you can see in these other pix, Bob has interesting neighbors too. In the bigger cave next door I noticed a black shape, and found a closer pic that leads me to wonder if that’s Carrion Cave. Can you ID that black shape? Shall I post the exact GPS coordinates? Has anyone here already found and/or hiked to these rocks via the nearby trails?
