Firefighters responded to a brush fire off Highway 166 near Tepusquet Road on Sunday night.

At 10:31 p.m., the Santa Barbara County Fire Department (SBCFD), Los Padres National Forest Fire Department, and Cal Fire responded approximately four to five miles east of Tepusquet Road and discovered five to ten acres of brush burning uphill at a slow rate of spread.

There were no structures threatened and dozers made good progress with hand crews putting in hose lines. The fire had not increased much in size and crews stayed on the scene all night. The forward progess was stopped just before 2:00 a.m. Monday, reported SBCFD Public Information Officer Mike Eliason.

Traffic restrictions are in place by the California Highway Patrol.
