Former President Joe Biden and former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden made their way back to Santa Barbara County on Monday afternoon, directly following their attendance at Trump’s inauguration.
The visit marks the Bidens’ return to the region after their stay earlier in the summer, showing their fondness for the scenic beauty and tranquility of the Central Coast.
The couple arrived at Vandenberg Space Force Base, where they were met with a warm reception. A brief sendoff ceremony had been held in their honor at Joint Base Andrews on the East Coast before they boarded Air Force One for their cross-country journey.

Upon arrival, they were greeted by Vandenberg’s airmen and Space Force Delta 30 commander, Colonel Mark A. Shoemaker, symbolizing a respectful and cordial welcome back to the area.
The Bidens have been spotted enjoying quality time with family and friends in the Santa Ynez Valley during their previous visits. This trip is anticipated to be a more private, with the former president reportedly planning to spend a significant amount of time at the Kiani Preserve. This 8,000-acre ranch and winery in the Santa Ynez Valley previously hosted the Biden family.
“Thank you for your service to our country, sir,” Vandenberg Space Force Base posted online.

Seeing him in jeans made me smile. I hope he has many years left to enjoy his retirement!
Thank you for a job well done.
We hope it won’t all be undone by the merchants of chaos.
He’s already undone a big chunk of it … most of his Executive Orders undo Biden’s and then go beyond that.
It’s already been undone.
Welcome back, Bidens! I hope they have a relaxing time, it’s well deserved.
@ SACJON- “well deserved”…. LOL! That guy was off duty more than he worked… Maybe Susan Rice and the rest of his backroom-non-elected-crew deserve a rest…
Wrong again Coast. Trump clocked the least amount of hours than any president in U.S. history. (https://rollcall.com/2024/07/12/trumps-presidential-office-hours-were-the-shortest-since-fdr-bidens-not-far-behind-him/)
But Trump did set a record for the most golf played while being President. He visited a Trump Organization property on 428 (nearly one in three) of the 1,461 days of his presidency and is estimated to have played 261 rounds of golf, one every 5.6 days. Looks like fat Donny is the one who is off duty more than he worked.
Thank you for your service Mr. President. Here are just a few of the great things you did for the American people.
– Creating more than 16 million jobs and cutting the unemployment rate from 6.3 percent when he took office to 4.2 percent in November;
– Reducing health insurance and prescription drug costs for millions of Americans (Now repealed by Trump)
– Combatting dangerous climate change while creating clean-energy jobs and manufacturing jobs; (In progress of repealing by Trump)
– Cutting taxes for middle-class and working-class families and some businesses, while imposing a minimum tax on multibillion-dollar corporations and cracking down on wealthy tax cheats. (In progress of repealing by Trump)
– The CHIPS and Science Act into law to invest $53 billion to create semiconductor manufacturing jobs in the U.S (In progress of repealing by Trump)
– Pay increase to military and their families
– Stabilizing the economy during COVID and bringing inflation down to 2.7% as of December 2024.
History will recognize you as a good president in unprecedented times where mobs of uneducated and fearful people took control of an archaic voting system that does not reflect the will of all Americans.
“the will of all Americans”?? You do realize the election wasn’t even close right? Your side lost and yet you somehow claim that ‘all Americans’ got shafted? wtf? Zero sense right there.
The electoral college does not reflect the votes of all Americans. And you already know this but somehow you continue to try and debate, only 1/3 of Americans voted for Trump. Yeesh you must be so annoying to be married to or have as a parent.
You’re not making a coherent argument. That’s all. Sorry you’re upset so much you have to get pissed and personal. Good night.
Anyone who has read your comments is quite aware that you have no idea what constitutes a coherent argument.
LOL again with the lying and deflecting. You’re 100% wrong, once again. As always. Per usual.
Trump’s win margin was one of the smallest in history. Look it up, read the numbers and stop parroting memes from Parler. We’re all sick of it.
I would like to see the numbers that support that claim about the margin. It will take something of a spreadsheet when you look at historical voter turnout (which I believe was considerably higher in this election), and not just vote % won by each candidate.
Could you drop a couple examples of candidates who had higher margins with the same or near ammount of voter turnout?
SBSTONER – Sure thing. As you should know by now, I don’t just post random, made up facts here.
Take a look at all the margins of victory since Washington here: https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/statistics/data/presidential-election-mandates
“For votes counted through Nov. 20, Trump’s margin over Harris was 1.62 percent. That’s smaller than any winner since Bush in 2000, when the margin was 0.51 percent. Going back further, only John F. Kennedy in 1960 and Nixon in 1968 won the popular vote by smaller margins, 0.17 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively.” https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/the-size-of-donald-trumps-2024-election-victory-explained-in-5-charts
Now, I’ll admit I’m no statistician, but that’s pretty low.
19.6th percentile. Thanks for the sources.
I know we don’t see eye to eye on many things but I don’t think I’ve ever thought you post “made up facts” – it’s more some matters of opinions we disagree on
You have repeatedly made such claims.
SBS – I agree, we DO disagree on a lot LOL. But I appreciate your maturity and ability to disagree without name calling and insults. It would be great if others here could do that!
Yes it would. After a random NewYears Day discussion with a stranger I decided to embrace discussion when possible. I appreciate your willingness to engage in it too
SBS – Wow, that’s pretty cool of you! I know we’ve had our back and forths in the past, but this is so much nicer. I respect opposing opinions, but when people (we know who) start getting condescending, insulting or just flat out lying, it tends to go south.
Cheers!
Trump won the popular vote
No – he got just under 50%. But what difference does it make? He won the election. Why does it matter to you whether he won the popular vote or not? He lost it by millions in 2016 – but he still won the election. Is it some ego thing with you? Out of curiosity, who won the 2020 election?
I understood it, but I’m intelligent, knowledgeable, and honest.
Trump won the popular vote.
So?
30%? Nah, that’s wrong.
BASSLIP – again, what are you talking about? Why do you insist on lying so much? Remember, you owe me $2000 now……
Turnout was 64% (https://www.usnews.com/news/national-news/articles/2024-11-15/how-many-people-didnt-vote-in-the-2024-election)
Trump received 49.8% of the popular vote vs. Harris’s 48.3% (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_United_States_presidential_election)
Therefore Trump received the votes of 31.9% of the eligible voters and Harris received 30.9%
He received a plurality of the popular vote. Which is tragic and shows how ignorant so much of the population is.
The election was closer than any Presidential election in 100 years. And we all lost.
Hmm … I don’t where I got that number from, but it isn’t right. (Of course it was vastly less wrong than what I responded to.)
ChatGPT: “ The closest U.S. presidential election in the past century was in 2000, between George W. Bush and Al Gore. The outcome hinged on Florida’s 25 electoral votes, with Bush winning by a mere 537 votes after a Supreme Court decision halted a recount. This led to Bush securing 271 electoral votes to Gore’s 266, despite Gore winning the popular vote by approximately 543,895 votes.”
Learn to read. They said “that does not reflect the will of all Americans.”
Jesus Christ. How do you even function.
ALEX – it is mindboggling, isn’t it? A valedictorian at SB High, an award winning student at UCSB, a doctor at UCSB with many professional awards, who has a background in not only public education, but forestry management, marine biology and was also somehow a lead deckhand on multiple local fishing boats, and he still can’t read!
BITSACK – “I responded saying we never will have a system where we all agree on the candidate.”
LOL no you did not, not in any way. You completely missed SBSURFER’s point and said, “You do realize the election wasn’t even close right? Your side lost and yet you somehow claim that ‘all Americans’ got shafted? wtf? Zero sense right there.”
Your words. Everyone sees them, everyone (except you) understands them.
As for me “trying to make up a CV,” those are YOUR WORDS, once again. YOU bragged and boasted about all that crap. So, am I “making stuff up” or were you, ONCE AGAIN, lying? Which is it?
He lies incessantly, and then says *I* have no credibility. I’ll take that as a positive.
BETLOSS – “30%? Nah, that’s wrong.”
Uh…. where did anyone say “30%” here? Someone mentioned 1/3, but you can’t seriously believe that 1/3 = 30%….. right?
If you’re still on about the “only about 30%” vs 32%, give it a rest. You’ve already been caught lying.
And he’s incapable of understanding that “all Americans” doesn’t mean “all Americans who voted”. And I would point out to Anonymous that “all Americans eligible to vote” is a far cry from “all Americans”, especially considering all the voter disenfranchisement, so actually a lot fewer than “only 1/3 of Americans voted for Trump” (same for Harris and then some, of course). BI calls these facts “incoherent”. Why do we waste so much time on a stupid ignorant lying troll?
BUSTED – “You said it, repeatedly.” – Where? Show us. You can look it up and provide a direct quote but since I never said exactly “30%” you will never win here. YOU. ARE. A. LIAR…. well that or you are really low intel.
“And yeah, you’re trying real hard to make up my cv,” – So you admit those things that I said you did never happened? Who’s lying now?
“I have certain expertise” – No you don’t. Not once have you ever said anything here to indicate a proficiency in forestry, medicine, public health, fishing, marine biology, public education, or anything you’ve boasted about being an expert in.
“And no, I don’t owe you for “the bet” that you’re crying about because you do know Jack about fishing. 1/2 day Hornet dropper loops and pier fishing? That’s 12 year old stuff…”
OK, so you ARE a cheat and a liar. Just the fact that I know what I am talking about LOSES you your bet that “I’ll bet $1000 that a guy that says “hauling a halibut up at the wharves..” doesn’t know Jack about fishing in any way, shape, or form.”
I’ve proven I DO know something, but that’s the tip of the iceberg, Kook. I don’t need to prove my skills any further as it would just embarrass you even more.
So yeah, YOU LOST. Get over it. You’ve been bested, repeatedly and soundly. Does your wife/husband know how easily you lose money betting?
