  1. Do these furloughed workers not get reimbursed later for this expected vacation time?- Part of the realities when choosing to work for the government -it has its its funding ups and downs from time to time. This is a given in this type of employment, and there certainly was plenty of warning to make other plans. Government salaries and benefits are very good – there was wiggle room to weather this out. Talk some sense into Salud and get the proper funding for the Wall.

  2. I have lived “paycheck to paycheck” when raising kids. Anyone thinking that helping unpaid Federal workers with food is political you are certainly not living in their world. Having children, mortgage payments or high rent, maybe even car payments can rip through pay checks pretty quickly. Without them, good luck. Some members of Congress have chosen not to take paychecks until this is over.

  3. It really is pathetic how completely inept and ineffective our congress and president have become. I hope they stopped the paychecks for Congress as well. Jerks! I just wish we could hit a big red RESET button, completely removing them all from government and starting over.

  4. A-15……I do have a family and I get paychecks once a month…….I am frugal with my money and manage to provide for food on the table …….I don’t have a new car, new house, new phone, or new tattoos………I work in the private sector and do not have health care, pension, lots of vacation time etc provided to my family because I am a government worker……… as FACTOTUM pointed out, Government workers are generously paid and provided for……..This Food Bank give away seems a bit political to me…….
