I used to feel that way about jazz; [my parents felt the same way about rock and roll!- it all sounds the same] I thought jazz was just a bunch of discordant, random, repetitive notes that were dissonant, abrasive and pointless?! Until I studied it a little, listened a lot and discovered nothing could be further from the truth. There are vast variations of jazz styles, and while I prefer some over others, they are truly amazing! Just as there are many styles of rock and roll and classical music, there is a very broad spectrum of songs and dances within the genre of flamenco. Additionally, once you know the history of the art, it becomes sublime . Music is like food - some is an acquired taste!
