I was in bed last night about ready to crash out and heard shots on the lower East Side. I thought they were fireworks at first because I was half asleep but they were spaced and it sounded like someone pulling a trigger...Anyway I've heard these calls acouple times in the past week so posting.
If it was a firecracker, it would have to have been at least an M80 class. I only hears a single blast so I thought maybe a transformer blew on the west side.
I was enjoying a meal with a friend who is familiar with the report of both M-80s and rifles/pistols. He said that booming sound was surely an M-80, NOT a firearm.
