I've been hearing what sounds like fireworks for the past 30 minutes on the westside. Are people seriously setting off fireworks after the Thomas Fire nearly demolished our town? Will police be cracking down on this?

Fireworks on the Westside?

Other than a staccato burst of firecracker-sounding pops at around 11:30 p.m., I only heard two or three other single bangs several minutes after midnight. And for the first time in a long time, there didn't appear to be any gunshots fired into the air. It was the quietest New Year's Eve I can recall on the Westside.

There were fireworks up on the Riviera too. People are nuts!

And people also continue to smoke... and guess what? recreational marijuana use is now legal. By your hyperbolical reasoning the hills are going to be ablaze at the first sign of a sundowner. BTW, our town was not nearly demolished. Ventura maybe but you're talking about the westside.

Recreational marijuana use has been legal since November 2016. It's sales that are now legal. Are there even any shops ready for that though? I haven't heard of any?
