Fireworks Flight

By John Wiley
Like other local aviators, we once flew over the Independence Day fireworks show. This year though, a variety of fireworks passed beneath our wings on a recent flight. Fingers of fog trying to claw their way into the valley at Gaviota Pass. The magnificent Finger Falls near Grass Valley. The endlessly fascinating patterns of fields. The once horrible Mount Lassen dozing in the smoke from large wildfires. All these "fireworks" and more greet the eye of anyone flying our region, and demonstrate the diverse beauty of this great country.

Jul 04, 2018 10:43 PMThanks for the shot of Mt. Lassen. It looks like there is still a fair amount of snow on it. Last summer I took a group of Boy Scouts from Troop 1 to the summit of Lassen as part of our "Volcanic Tour of Northern California". We made it to the Sierra Club cabin on Mt. Shasta (aka Horse Camp), Burney Falls, Deadfall Lakes below Mt. Eddy, McCloud Falls, and Lassen Peak. Thanks for sharing.
