Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a structure fire in Santa Ynez that burned so hot it put itself out.

At 4:04 p.m. Wednesday, crews responded to a single family residence in the 1200 block of Highland Ave and found discovered the back half of the house had caught fire in an office.

The fire burned so hot, it put itself out and consumed all the oxygen in the room, said Captain Daniel Bertucelli.

Crews on the scene confirmed the fire did not extend to any walls or attic space as they ventilated the structure to get the smoke out.

The cause is under investigation and there were no reported injuries.
